Course content
|
This course will cover the following topics: 1. The novelists of spirituality: Mauriac, Bernanos and Green. 2. Literature inspired by philosophical thinking. Sartre ? philosophy and ethics, freedom of one and incorporation in the historical reality, discontinuity, simultaneity, "l´oeil de caméra" in his narrative technique. Camus ? the absurd, revolution, humanism. 3. Innovation in narrative, the ?new? novel. Rejection of the conformity of tradition. 4. Development of poetry in the 20th century 5. Criticism and the tendencies in the 20th century. University criticism, criticism of the authors, syncretism in criticism, psychoanalytic criticism, sociological criticism, thematic criticism and formalist criticism.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to make the students familiar with the main literary movements of the 20th century and the main author. The emphasis is put on the development of French novel. The seminars are focused on a detailed literary-theoretical analysis of the fundamental narrative of these movements.
The acquired competences correspond with the specified objectives of the course.
