Course content
Constitutional and political mechanisms of democratic state. Is our politics corrupted? Money and politics. Under what rules we vote? Question of the electoral reform in the Czech Republic. Election campaigns and political marketing. Can by politics measured? Election surveys and other quantitative tools. Are all kind of elections equally important? Where are the limits of negative campaigning in politics? Is Czech negative campaign other than abroad? How the municipal and regional politics works? Lobbying or tripartite? Interest groups, and civic participation in CR. What can professional advisers achieve and what is spin-doctoring?

Learning outcomes
The main aim of this course is the popularization of political science research in the Czech Republic and an explanation of basic rules and mechanisms, how the politics works. Every day we encounter a number of phenomena that are influenced by politics. We participate at the elections, referendums, watching political debates, reading newspapers and watching other media, without aware of it, how we are significantly influenced by politics.
Student is familiar with the basics of political research, the political process and political system in the Czech Republic.
