The aim of the National Model United Nations (NMUN) course is to introduce students to the real-life proceedings of the United Nations (UN) in an interactive way. It is a primarily practical course, where students apply their theoretical knowledge and broaden their scope of study. Students will learn to understand the structure, functioning and operation of the UN and focus on the detailed process of negotiations in the various commissions. By representing a UN member country of their choice, participants will develop the ability to effectively research information, analyze a country's policy direction, and pursue its interests in practice. This will enable them to analyse actor behaviour and interpret interests in the commission. An important outcome of the course is not only an understanding of the behaviour of actors in international relations, which contributes to further understanding of the functioning of world politics, but also a deepening of soft skills (speech, presentation, negotiation, conflict resolution, etc.). The best selected students of the course will attend the NMUN conference on 19-25 November 2023 in Erfurt with the probable possibility to also attend the NMUN international conference in New York in spring 2024. The course is conducted in English.
