Course objectives (annotation) The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic political theories that deal with the issue of the political system in ethnically divided countries. These are Arend Lijphart's consociational theory and Donald L. Horowitz's integrative theory. The course will also present other approaches to the issue of the political system in a multi-ethnic country. The above theories will then be applied to a case study of the political system of a multi-ethnic country - Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be the subject of the course. As part of the course, students will also be introduced to the political systems of two other multi-ethnic countries, namely Lebanon and Iraq.
