Learning outcomes
The class aims to, based on critical reading of works by Michal Ajvaz, Jorge L. Borges, Italo Calvino, Umberto Eco and Adolf Bioy Casares formulate basic problem areas of semiotics, in its systemic and communication aspect. The purpose of the course is not to clearly define or recapitulate existing terminology and concepts, but rather to, based on controlled/critical reading, arrive at basic articulation of semiotics and its questions.
Ability to interpret literary texts with help of semiotic terminology, basic knowledge of semiotic theory
