The student will become acquainted with the main points of the subdiscipline of cognitive semiotics, its background theories and context and the its general application. After the course students will be conversant in cognitive semiotics and will be able to research more specific areas related to the discipline individually.

Předpoklady
|
There are no prerequisites for the course, but a working knowledge of basic semiotic theory will be useful for those interested in cognitive semiotics. Lectures will be held in English, so knowledge of the language is an absolute must.

Hodnoticí metody a kritéria
|
Ústní zkouška, Analýza výkonů studenta, Rozhovor, Systematické pozorování studenta
The evaluation of this course will be comprised of two paper presentations on a topic chosen by the student from the material studied throughout the seminar. The evaluation will take into account the accuracy of the concepts presented, the relevance of the chosen topic and the development of an argument from premises to conclusions. The papers and presentations will be worth 35% and 65% of the grade respectively.
