Learning outcomes
The course aim to deepen the ability to read specialized (linguistic) texts critically, especially with regard to terminology, or methodology. Each of the topics will be discussed in two subsequent classes with stress on manner of presenting arguments and their validity, appropriateness of terminology used and discussion of assumptions and consequences of the theories in question.
Capability of critical analysis of selected linguistic problems, basic orientation in argumentation in linguistic texts

(1) Regular presence (no more than 2 unexcused absences) (2) Regular preparation / required reading (3) Written essay (at least 2500 words), or analysis of a selected linguistic text (4) Discussion of selected linguistic text according to student's choice (includes basic and broader orientation in the selected field)
