Course content
|
This complex of approaches should be applied to processual and functional analysis of (1) communication events (monologues and dialogues) (2) dialogues, both asymmetrical (institutional) and symmetrical (conversational) (3) utterances, written and spoken (including current shaping of movement between writtenness and spokenness) Emphasis will be placed on the ability to create and use transcripts of spoken and written utterances.

Learning outcomes
|
Students of doctoral study programme should be familiar with current research methods of verbal communication which arise from sociolinguistics perspective (code switching, code mixing), pragmatics perspective (speech acts, maxims, presuppositions and implicatures, contextualization), analysis of discourse (discourse strategies) and etnomethodologic conversational analysis.
Knowledge of contemporary approaches to investigation of verbal communication
