Course content
The State Final Exams, its detailed topics are available at the Department of Musicology?s website. Individual home preparation is expected. Passing the State Final Exam is a necessary condition for graduation. The State Final Exam has the form of an oral exam in music theory, history, aesthetics and methodology of musicology. At the Final State Exam, the candidate should demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the field of study, including deeper understanding of its historic, theoretical, aesthetical, systematic and methodological issues. Extra attention is paid to the ability of analytical approach to the discussed questions and critical work with the existing results of the researches in musicology. Oral Master Exam has the form of a discussion based on the drawn questions; the topics for the discussion should not have a direct relationship to the topic of the diploma thesis.

Learning outcomes
Music history, theory and aesthetics, and the methodology of musicology are the content of the State Final Exam that examines knowledge and skills of a student of the Master study program in Musicology.
Student has knowledge of music history, theory, aesthetics and methodology of musicology, and is able to apply his education in practise. Passing the State Final Exam is a necessary condition for graduation and is a part of the final exams for obtaining university education in Musicology program.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of a respective study block and gaining all required partial attestations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

The State Final Exam, its detailed topics are available at the Department of Musicology?s website. Individual home preparation is expected. The exam is based on an analysis of two musical works where the student demonstrates the ability to apply knowledge from music theory, history and aesthetics. Another part of the exam consists of a test of knowledge of musicology?s methodology.
