The Opera in the 19th century vesus Wagnerian Music Drama. 3. The Absolute Music. The Symphony of the 19th century. F. Schubert, R. Schumann, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. 4. The Symphony of J. Brahms, A. Bruckner, P. I. Tchaikovski and A. Dvořák. 5. The Programme Music. The Symphonic Poem. F. Liszt, B. Smetana, R. Strauss. 6. The Concert of the 19th Century. Piano Concerto, Violin concerto and Violoncello concerto. F. Chopin, F. Liszt, E. Grieg, P. I. Tchaikovski, J. Brahms and A. Dvořák. 7. The Piano pieces, the Chamber Music, Melodrama. 8. The Work of Gustav Mahler. 9. The Music of the 20th century. The characteristics of style trends and the stages of development. 10. The Music of the first half of the 20th Century. The Impresionism, expressionism, Folklorism, Neoclassicism and the Civilizing tendencies. 11. The Music of the second half of the 20th Century. Serialism and postserialism - concrete music, electronic, electro-acoustic, electro-acoustic timbre music, Neoromanticism, Minimalism and Postmodernism. 12. The most important music of Czech. 9. Learning outcomes
The course aims to acquaint students with the most important opuses of European compositional music history from the end of 18th century until present time. It provides a basis for orientation in music history, but also with the theory - students learn to use musicological terminology to capture the historical context and the nature of the musical language, genres and species.
To obtain the ability to verbalize one?s insights based on a listening. Listening competence in the area of the main trends of development of European music. The ability to listen analytically and to identify unknown songs based on the gained experience. The ability of musically critical reflection. Knowledge of songs as a prerequisite for the musical and dramaturgical activities.

Didactic Test

Maximum of 3 absences and passing of the listening test.
