Course content
Harmonic analysis of works from clasicism until atonality. Analysis of Mozart Sonatas, Early and late Beethovens harmonícal language A. Rejchas harmonical inovations F. Chopin - early harmony, late Chopin and the path towards the so called tristan harmony A. N. Scriabin - his middle period and late Scriabin (mystic chord, atonality)

Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Demonstration

  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
This course makes students acquainted with the basics of harmonic thinking in the period of classicism and romantism.
During practising each student gains an overview about harmonic aspect of a composition as well as one of the fundamental points for analyzing music.
Prerequisites
A solid orientation in the knowledges of elementary music theory and musical terminology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Student performance

Practising each chapter, student can identify and analyze the type of chords and their function, as well as making their own musical exercises.
