| Learning outcomes |
|
The course will acquaint students with historical conditions of the 19th-century music culture. Social background of composers and performers as well as the musical needs of the public will be also reflected. Typical structural elements of the 19th-century music will be presented using the methods of musical analysis of selected works.
Course graduate will acquire knowledge of different evolutionary streams of the 19th-century music (e.g., symphony, song, musical theatre). Students will be able to compare different musical styles and genres of the 19th-century music as well. |

Student should have basic knowledge of music of the Ludwig van Beethoven's period and the next historical phase until the revolutionary year 1848.
