Learning outcomes
The course will provide: - basic orientationin in film music terminology and sound in film - overview on theoretical approaches to film music analysis and aesthetics of film music - detailed view on some specific features in film music history (silent film, film music of the Hollywood era, tendencies in European film music, Czech film music)
By the end of this course students will be familiar with film music terminology, theoretical approaches to film music analysis and a variety of functions of film music in relation to other auditive and visual film components. Students will understand specific features of film music in its history, and will be familiar with numerous examples of the following areas: silent film, film music of the Hollywood era, tendencies in European film music, Czech film music.
