Course content
In the sphere of cataloguing the subject matter is the mastering of individual areas in musicological documents (e.g. the technique of cataloguing selection of musical sheets and their description), and also practical creating the thematic catalogue according to the cataloguing rules. In the area of of editorial work the objective is also mastering of theoretical problems (e.g. the history of musical editorial principles, kinds of editions as for musical texts), and practical creating a critical edition - concrete and defined - by the lecturer of a given composition. Such critical edition contains all basic features: an introduction, a music score itself and an editorial report.

Learning outcomes
Course focused on cataloguing, scoring, and editorial practice. Within the framework of the course, the basic editorial problems of a musical text are explained, and they are demonstrated with music examples of various style periods. The aim is therefore both the theoretical and practical mastering of the musicological documents and creating a critical edition of a composition.
Ability to work in musical departments of museums and archives, editorial activities - especially in the field of historical musical materials.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of general musical theory. Knowledge of instruments, auxiliary historical science, survey of history of music, knowledge of literature on musicology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Catalogue recordings of sheets of music, critical editions of compositions and knowledge of relevant scheduled literature.
