1. The sociological and cultural role of opera in the 17th and 18th centuries 2. The dramaturgy of Baroque opera, libretto analysis, characters analysis 3. The relationship between text and music in Baroque opera, the recitative and aria principles 4. Types of arias, the principle of interchangeability, operatic pasticcio 5. Baroque physical expression: acting and dance, scenography of the baroque theatre 6. Historically informed performance and staging practice 7-12. Student presentations - their own analyses of opera performances

Baroque opera seria as a crossover of art. In the cycle of lectures will be enlarged selected chapters from the field of the italian opera of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Students will acquire the knowledge of opera, baroque music and about interpretation. |
