The course introduces students to the fundamental methods of music analysis, applied primarily to chamber and piano music from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. Its aim is to develop students' ability to independently explore the structure of a musical work, identify its formal, tectonic, thematic, harmonic, contrapuntal, rhythmic, and textural organisation, and understand the interrelationships between the individual components of musical structure.
To get acquainted with the analytic approaches and gain the basic terminological knowledge. To acquire the ability to individually evaluate and use methods for a musical work analysis. To apply the newly acquired knowledge on any musical work. To obtain the ability to evaluate the musical work in terms of its technical devising and invention. |

Analysis of Creative works (Music, Pictorial,Literary), Seminar Work
1. A detailed analysis of a composition assigned by the instructor, to be presented by the student in class. The student is required to prepare study materials for the other students in the seminar. 2. Successful completion of a mid-term and a final test. 3. A minimum attendance of 75%. |
