Course content
|
The epic song (Homer and other authors, above all coming from the Trojan Cyclus), lyric poems and the beginning of personal sensitiveness (Sappho). Lyric elements in drama, stasimon (stationary songs in the orchestra with strophes-antistrophes, performed by the chorus). Suggestions coming from Turkey (the Aman kafé and the belly dance) and the revolution of Rebetiko. Popular songs (Dhimotika tragoudhia a kantadhes). Examples of music and dancing in a mimetic armony (the "trata"). Christmas songs by children (Kalenda). The songs in the islands (nisiotika tragoudia).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the lesson is to focus our attention on the development of songs, from the archaic lyric expression, through the classic production, to the folk revolution during the XXth century. During the lessons we are going to examine videos and passages, taken from popular songs, coming from many different regions of Greece, in order to identificate most current themes, topics and styles.
