Course content
|
1. Archaeological and written sources related to studies of ancoient history, codes and legal documents. 2. The development of civic society and democracy in the classical antiquity - examples of Athens and Sparta. 3. Ancient art and sport. 4. Ancient science and philosophy. 5. Environmental problems of ancient civilisations. 6. Multicultural society in the ancient world, clashes of civilisations, "barbaricum". 7. The situation of Jews in the ancient world, antisemitism. 8. Migration and colonization in the ancient society. 9. Spirituality in the ancient society, religion, ethics, the development of Christianity. 10. Pompei as exmaple of ancient way of life. 11. Romans in the Central Europe. 12. Ancient traditions in the Czech culure - example of Olomouc region. In the framework of the seminar will be organized the field trip in Kroměříž and Carnuntum.

Learning outcomes

The knowledge of specialized topics related to the history of ancient Greece and Rome - everyday life, political institutions, military, environmental thinking and problems, ancient tradition in the course of history of European culture.
