Course content
The students will be acquanted with historical background of the Apuleius´ Metamorphoses, further with its structure, style and ideas. There also will be given a survey, how this literary work influenced european renaissance literature and art. In te exercises, selected passages from the romance will be read: 1. Apuleius a jeho dílo. 2. Apuleius´ Metamorphoses as a voyage - romance. 3. Metamorphoses in the kontext of author´s philosophical thought. 4. The religious background of the Apuleius´ romance. 5. Lecture of selected passages of the Metamorphoses.

Learning outcomes
The lecture about Apuleius´Metamorphoses strenghtens to make the studens aquainted with this ancient literary work and its further life, especially in the renaissance. During the exercises, the students will read some selected passages from Apuleius´ romance.
The aim of this course is to acquire basic knowledge obout the author and his work in the historical changes of his reception. Students apply theoretical expirience in concret cases of textual analysis.
Prerequisites
A basic orientation in the ancient greek and latin literatures is supposed. A knowledge of Europe´s renaissance literature would be welcomed.

The course will be closed with a credit, based on the attendance of any student.
