Course content |
The course aims at a limited region of Central Europe (roughly the territories of Poland, Hungary, Czech lands and some German lands) in the medieval period. It will concern with political, social and ecclesiastical life of the medieval society. Typical phenomena for the period and for the region will be treated (e.g. ethnic developments, political specifics, Christianisation, Church, Jews, Colonisation, Turks, Renaissance and humanism, cultural and artistic developments).

Learning outcomes |
Seminars concentrate on the analysis of the main historical problems of medieval period in Central Europe, and relevant literature and sources.
Students will be able to work with medieval sources from Central Europe and will work on social, church and cultural history of the region and period. |
Prerequisites |
Students should have a basic knowledge of the political history of the European Middle Ages.
