Course content
Seminar topics: 1. Introduction to the field of study, general literature. 2. Characteristic of the primary sources and literature, differences, various approaches. 3. Libraries, main classification and possibilities of their use. 4. Excursion to Scientific Library, Olomouc. 5. Archives, main classification and possibilities of their use. 6. Museums, main classification and possibilities of their use. 7. Excursion to Regional Museum, Olomouc. 8. Main dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks and works of historical topography. 9. Internet sources for historians and archivists. 10. Types and forms of professional works in history. 11. Principles for writing a professional paper in history, stylistics. 12. Citation rules for literature and practical application. 13. Citation rules for primary sources and practical application.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook)

Learning outcomes
Main aim is to introduce students to historic research, including terminology. Students will also learn about institutions providing historian with sources not only in theory, but also through excursions. They will also be told about encyclopedias, topographic handbooks and internet sources. Emphasis will be on formal part of work of historian - they will be introduced to methods professional papers, their types and stylistics. Literature and primary sources citing will also be mentioned, including practical training.
Orientation in main terms and literature, overview of information sources and institutions, practical knowledge of rules for writing a professional paper, including citation of primary sources and literature.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Essay, Student performance, Analysis of Activities ( Technical works), Dialog, Written exam

Attendance at least 80%. Written test based on active participation during the seminar and small written presentations. Seminar work (essay about chosen person). Power point presentation about chosen topic. Colloquy.
