Course content
The aim of lectures, which are focused on the general history, is to acquiant the students with the most important facts and processes in the world in the 20th century and to show them ways, possibilities and sources for getting to know the history of this period. The main content of the lectures are political and economical problems of the general history of the 20th century. The attention will be also paid to the development of international relations, world powers, particular regions, decolonization etc. Another point of interest is the basic description of main cultural and ideological schools of the 20th century. Second basic issue of lectures is the history of Czechoslovakia and the Czech republic. Key issues of this history are placed in an european context and students will also be acquiant with the interpretation of studied events in the historiography. Main topics are: First World War, formation of Czechoslovakia, the era of the First Czechoslovakian republic, Second World War and nazi occupation, resistance against nazis, after-war world order, creation of the Soviet block, communist coup d'etat in 1948, the characteristic of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia, popular resistance against communist government, year 1968 in Czechoslovakia, so called "normalization", the fall of communist regimes in 1989/1990, dissolution of Czechoslovakia.

Prerequisites
The knowledge of the 20th century history at the level of the high school student. PZ

Oral exam

Students are supposed to self-study literature about the topic, questions about it is the part of final examination. PZ
