Course content
At the beginning of the summer semester (more information at department´s website): a short meeting for students interested in this seminar (organization, necessary equipment, study materials). Summer holidays (June - August): The main programme of a two-week stay will be work in book depositaries enriched by a lecture on a concrete examples. Weekend excursions into another places related to book funds of Western Bohemia will be included (students may choose - Kynžvart, Bečov, Jáchymov, Plzeň nebo Cheb). HF

Learning outcomes
In the course of two-day stay, students will be acquainted with preservation and availability of historical book funds, its development and a broader context of a development of the important cultural centre - Teplá Abbey. The core of the seminar will be familiarization of students with various enviromental influences, which may shorten a lifetime period of books, as well as methods, how to deal with it in practice. The course was established under the terms of the project Innovation of Historical Sciences Studies at Palacký University, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0025. HF
A student gains not only practical knowledge of classifying books, but also the methodology of book funds preservation. HF
Prerequisites
16 students from Bachelor studies of single and double History programme or Archival Science: a course B, for the others: a course C. This seminar is not related to participation any previous course, however the knowledge of heraldry, epigraphics and paleography is the advantage. HF

Assessment methods and criteria

A student has to work 10 eight-hour working days for the revision and historic preservation of the library fund. There are 5 credits for a credit and a colloquium. HF
