Course content
Lecture program and lecturers: 1) Introduction to the study of the region - basic methodological approaches (Kalábková) 2) Definition of the Central Moravia region and its natural conditions (Kalábková) 3) History of research in the Central Moravia region (Hlava) 4) Current archaeological work in the Central Moravia region (Kalábková) Examples of research at selected archaeological sites/micro-regions from the following periods: 5) Paleolithic and Mesolithic (Novák M.) 6) Neolithic (Vostrovská) 7) Eneolithic (Kalábková) 8) Bronze Age (Golec) 9) Hallstatt period (Golec) 10) La T?ne period (Hlava) 11) Roman period and migration of peoples (Hlava) 12) Early Middle Ages (Šlézar/Novák J.) 13) High and Late Middle Ages/Modern period (Šlézar/Novák J.)

Learning outcomes
The Regional Archaeology course will introduce students to the methodology of regional archaeological research. Using examples of research conducted at individual sites or in micro-regions of Central Moravia, it will demonstrate the possibilities for processing and interpreting the archaeological data obtained, focusing on selected periods.
Acquiring regional archaeological research methodology.
Prerequisites
A basic overview of prehistoric, protohistoric, and historical developments in Central Europe gained by completing the courses History of Prehistory and Seminar on the History of Prehistory.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

The course concludes with an oral exam that will test students' knowledge of the topics covered in the lectures. During the exam, the examiner will select one location/period and test students' knowledge of research methodology, the history of research, the description of archaeological sources, and their interpretation.
