Course content
Obsah: 1. Introduction of the issues. Definition of the region. The natural environment in the past and nowadays. Reconstruction of historical communications. 2. The history of research in the region. Regional bibliography. 3. Paleolithic and Mesolithic age. 4. Neolithic age. 5. Eneolithic age. 6. Study trip. 7. Early and Middle Bronze Age. 8. The period Lusatian Urnfields. 9. La Tene age. 10. Roman period and the Migration period. 11. Archaeology of Early Medieval Central Moravia. 12. Archaeology of high and late Middle Ages and Modern Age in Central Moravia. 13. Study trip.

Learning outcomes
This course surveys the principal cultural processes in the prehistory, protohistory and medieval period in Czech Republic, viewed from the point of view of a regional archaeological research. It provides students with some basic knowledge of the most important archaeological sites in Central Moravia put in the social, historical and cultural contexts. Recommended readings contain a supplementary material enlighting either the subsidiary topics or the material that may be more difficult to comprehend. A study trip will be a complementary part of the lectures. The course is designed particularly for foreign students of history and archaeology coming in the frame of the Erasmus+ programme.
A broad awareness of the diversity and specifics of the archaeological heritage in Czech Republic.
Prerequisites
Basic orientation in the history of prehistory. Knowledge of English.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Dialog

(1) A course participation: 26 hours = 1 credit; (2) self-study: 50 hours = 2 credits; (3) field trip: 25 hours = 1 kredit; (4) preparation to the final credit: 25 hours = 1 credit.
