Course content
Students will further extend the theoretical knowledge acquired in the lectures by analyzing text samples, especially from the Old and Middle High German period. 1. Die Anfänge der Schriftlichkeit im germanisch-deutschen Sprachraum 2. (Vor)Geschichte des deutschen Lautsystems im Alt- und Mittelhochdeutschen: Vokale und Konsonanten. 3. Morphologie im Alt- und Mittelhochdeutschen: Verben, Substantive, Adjektive, Pronomina, Zahlwörter. 4. Satzbau im Alt- und Mittelhochdeutschen: einfache und komplexe Sätze, Negation. 5. Wortschatz im Alt- und Mittelhochdeutschen: lexikalisches Lehngut, Wortbildung, Lexikographie.

  • Homework for Teaching - 13 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Students will further extend the theoretical knowledge acquired in the lectures by analyzing text samples, especially from the Old High German period and Middle High German period.
Students will learn how to analyze Old High and Middle High German texts on particular levels.
Prerequisites
The knowledge of linguistic terminology and information acquired in the lectureis are expected.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Written exam

Active participation on seminars (75 %), work on continuous assignments, good score on credit test, which will include a text analysis.
