Course content
In this seminar, the methods and instruments of text analysis will be presented. The basic theoretic text is the study by Albrecht Greule "Vom Satz zum Text" (From Sentence to Text), in which the basic text units are presented and the analysis instruments are described. In addition to this basic study, the students will also gain insight into other relevant studies, such as Klaus Brinker's "Linguistische Textanalyse" (Linguistic Text Analysis) or "Methoden der literatur- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Textnalyse" (Methods of Textual Analysis in Literature and Cultural Studies - eds. Vera and Ansgar Nünning). On the basis of these theoretical foundations, five selected texts are then analyzed.

Learning outcomes
