|
The goal of the visiting professors' lectures is to introduce students to current international trends and modern methodological approaches in linguistics through lectures by international experts. Example: Visiting Professor's Intensive Seminar: Argumentation: Structure, Pragmatics, Translation Taught by Prof. Dr. Vahram Atayan Argumentation is one of the central processes in human communication and occurs in all media (both written and oral), registers, and situational contexts. In our seminar, we will examine this phenomenon from various perspectives: first, we will discuss the linguistic and textual structures that arise in the course of argumentation. Second, we will examine the pragmatic and communicative aspects of argumentation within various discourses. Finally, we will address issues related to the translation of argumentative speech acts. Another main topic of the seminar is methodological issues in argumentation research, particularly with regard to quantitative and qualitative approaches.

This course is intended for students in German studies programs as well as other interested students at Palacký University. A prerequisite for taking the course is knowledge of German at the B1-B2 level.
