Learning outcomes

Series of individual linguistic seminars. The aim of the seminar is to get acquainted with the phraseology of the German language and to focus on the following topics: Definition of a phrase and its characteristic features (polylexicality, stability, idiomaticity) - Classification of phrases - Paradigmatic semantic relations in phraseology (synonymy, antonymy, phraseological series, phraseological subject groups, phraseological fields) - Contrastive phraseology - Use of phrases in text (text-forming, stylistic and pragmatic functions of phrases). Furthermore, the aim is to get acquainted with the secondary literature and study one specialist topic, then present this in a seminar, as well as to master the use of phrases in selected types of texts of a certain field of communication (common, everyday communication, fiction, mass media or professional communication).
The seminars aim at expanding students' knowledge of current topics in contemporary Phraseology. Students will become acquainted with reference literature concerning individual partial topics, they will be able to perform independent linguistic text analysis and apply their knowledge in their professional life. In the course of the phraseology seminar it is expected that students will gain a comprehensive overview of the basic types of German phraseology, a practical knowledge of about 200 phraseological units.
