Course content
|
The actual content of the course is a roughly two-day excursion (30th September - 01st/02nd October) to selected Moravian towns, which are associated with specific Moravian German authors and which these authors also thematized in their literary texts. The students will study the selected texts or excerpts from them in advance and prepare a short paper (10-15 minutes) on them and their connection to the real topographies, which they will then present during the excursion. Depending on the number of participants, the reports can be prepared in pairs. The specific places visited during the excursion and the date will be specified in an information e-mail at the beginning of the semester and in relation to the number of registered students.

The aim of the course is to provide the participants with information about selected authors of Moravian German literature and their literary (and in the vast majority autobiographical) texts, which literarily process real places of Moravian towns or landscapes. Participants will learn to place literary works in a literary-historical and regional context and gain a basic understanding of the search for German traces in Czech cities.
Students will learn to read literary texts in the context of specific historical realities and place them in a historical and literary-historical context.
