Series of lectures providing an overview of all expressions of German/Austrian/Swiss culture, history, history of ideas, history of arts, social, political and media events.
The lecture aims at introducing students to the problems, issues and methods used in certain disciplines the knowledge of which is essential for the study of the German society and culture. Recently, a crucial role has been played by the discussed model "German studies as a cultural science". The resulting competence consists in: general knowledge of culture, history, art, thought etc. in German speaking countries and the ability to interpret a German text/Sachtext, complex as regards its content and linguistic features.
