Course content
The extent and intensions of literary epochs are currently being challenged in literary science. In this seminar, on one hand, individual epochs will be discussed by reference to scientific texts, and on the other hand, individual genres will be examined regarding their theoretical foundations and practical textual arrangement. In this process, deliberations about the theory of genres and literary historical thought take priority. In the structure of the seminar, the instructor will pay attention to the extensive overlapping of problems of epoch definition and theoretical approaches to genres. The seminar also focuses on the doctoral students´ relevant research topics, i.e. it prefers epochs and genres which help the doctoral students who are currently active at the department with the practical formulation of their theses.
