Course content |
This seminar responds to the cultural turn that has become prevalent in the humanities over the past few years. In this seminar, the development of the transition in cultural studies that began to appear in connection with the post-structuralist thinking in the 1970s will be portrayed. Doctoral students will be acquainted with the most significant representatives of this transition (Geertz, Said, Bhabha, Greenblatt, etc.) and their works. Special focus will be placed on the connection of this newer development with the already existing, not yet explicitly declared cultural scientific models from the history of philology. Additionally, it will be shown with the help of recently published works from the field of German studies how these theoretical models are implemented and applied in current scientific research.
