This seminar offers an overview of topical discussions in the field of literary theory (narratology, rhetoric, aesthetics). In addition, important publications of the last five to ten years are included. In the seminar, respective texts will be examined with regard to their argumentative structure and their usefulness for literary work. Critical treatment of these texts (reviews, counter statements, open criticism) will also be integrated in the work with these texts and topics.
In this seminar, the doctoral students learn how to deal with texts analytically. Moreover, they acquire an overview of the most important current debates in literary theory. As a result, they will be able to establish a methodological and terminological connection to the international standard in their dissertations and other published works. |
