Course description: The philosophy of meaning The course is devoted to the motif of meaning and the absurd in the modern thought. The question of meaning is rather avoided by more recent philosophical reflexion, while at the same time it is, paradoxically, one of the questions usually associated with philosophy. The content of the course is a thematization of this question through both older and more recent texts, both from the continental and analytic tradition. It is partly recapitulative, as it starts with the modern continental tradition where this question is born. Attention is paid to selected texts, beginning with R. Descartes and ending with T. Nagel or J. Patocka. The aim is to cultivate philosophical questioning and to sort out possible approaches to a question that is increasingly urgent in the age of the progress of the media world.
