PhD students at the Faculty of Arts of Palacký University, who do not study at the Department of Philosophy, must, during their Ph.D. studies, complete the two-semester course Philosophy for PhD students, taught by prof. Ivan Blecha <ivan.blecha@upol.cz>: Philosophy for PhD Students 1 (KFI/91AF1) and Philosophy for PhD Students 2 (KFI/91AF2). The examinations take place after the second semester and are conducted by assistant professors from the Department of Philosophy: dr. Pavel Hobza, dr. Martin Jabůrek, dr. Karel Šebela and dr. Jan Halák. The exam takes the form of a discussion of the text chosen by the students which should be related to the topic of their dissertation. This text may be in Czech or English and must relate to philosophy. The examination dates are listed in STAG for the summer examination period. Upon enrollment, students must contact the relevant examiner well in advance (about 4 weeks), who will approve the choice of the text and propose questions for the exam. Students who do not know how to choose the text are recommended to choose a chapter from one of the following anthologies (see Moodle).
