Summer school: Navigating Geostrategic Dynamics in the Indo-Pacific: Focus on Taiwan In this course, we will explore the intricate dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region with a special focus on Taiwan. We will delve into key topics such as the geostrategic concept of the Indo-Pacific, the influential role of China in the Indo-Pacific, the complex interplay between various actors in the region, and a detailed examination of Taiwan encompassing its history, ethnic complexities, recent developments, and human rights issues. This course offers a nuanced perspective on the geopolitical landscape and domestic developments, providing valuable insights into the multifaceted aspects of the region. For 5 days (16-20 June 2025) you will have the opportunity to learn from renowned international experts and participate in additional activities (cross-Strait role play game, city tour, etc.). All expenses, including lunches, will be covered.

This course is organized as a summer school (in the building at tř. Svobody 26), with invited international experts discussing various aspects of the Indo-Pacific and Taiwan. Students will attend a 5-day summer school at UPOL (16-20 June 2025, each day approx. 10:00-17:00) organized by the lecturers. Besides attendance they will be required to actively participate and engage in discussions.
