Learning outcomes
This semester-long seminar focuses on the reflection and analysis of diverse bodily identities in contemporary body-based arts (mainly dance, performance art, physical and non-verbal theatre, new circus). At the centre of the exploration is the relationship of the human being to the body, through which, within the artistic spectrum, he or she thematizes and discusses his or her own existential experience and knowledge of the lived world, thereby presenting to the audience many of the most pressing phenomena of our time. The course will be based on viewing video recording or the audience's own reception of individual selected works, drawing on the existing multifaceted literature on the issues we reflect on, and above all constantly constituted and transformed by our shared active discussion.
At the end of this course, she will be a student: - will be enriched in the sub-aspects of contemporary body-based arts with the ability to reflect and analyze them in a relevant way - be enriched by detailed and concrete examples of current theoretical explanations of the issues under study - be able to use appropriate terminology and concepts related to the body and corporeality, identities or body-based arts in general
Prerequisites
The course is not subject to any predispositions. The main criterion for participation and successful completion of the course is a personal interest in the types of art that are based on the human body and a desire to actively discuss your knowledge and experience with others.
