Course content
Classwork introduces the bases of critical work, requirements for critical reflexion of contemporary theatre events and with basic theatre-critics genres. Thematic topics: Entry discussion on present-day theatre Situation of contemporary theatre critique Relationship between theatre nad critique Profile of theatre citicist Demarcation of theatre-critics area - critique function (studies of given literature, papers) Theatre-critics genres (analysis of model texts) Critical reflexion of critique Critical reflexions and their evaluation

Learning outcomes
Course provides the introduction to the issue of theatre criticism. Lectures will introduce criticism as a part of theatre studies, its function and main goals and possible present progress. Students will learn about theatre-critics genres. Course emphasis critical thinking of students by giving practical tasks. It develops student's analytic skills using discussion and polemic abilities.
Student will master basic theatre-critics styles by practical form and will prepare to join festival editors teams (Labyrinty herectví, Divadelní Flora, Ostravar et.) and for own publication in daily and technical journals.
Prerequisites
Necessary is the knowledge of the theatre theory within the range of the first year of studies (theatre seminar - analysis, Introduction to theatre studies. It is recommended to read at least one books from the list of the recommended literature.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work

At least 75% attendance and active discussion on lectures. Students will work out their own papers from special literature ( for opening lectures) during semester further more 2 individual written reflexions based on given problem (reflexion of chosen inscenation, separat theatre-critical genres, maping of Olomouc's theatres, theatre festivals et.)
