Course content
1.-2. One history or several histories? What the material sources tell and what they don't. 3.-4. History and Theory? Dialogue or Fusion? 5.-6. Between Text and Performance / Theatre and Literary Studies 7.-8. Theatre History as a Social Theory, Ethnography, and Anthropology 9.-10. Hijacked History: Feminism, Minorities, Ethnicity 11.-12. How to Make a Narrative or Tell the Story of (the) Theatre

Learning outcomes
The students will deepen the knowledge of contemporary methodological problems of theatre-historical work.
Students will deepen theoretical knowledge of the theatre source characters. They will understand the meaning of theatre theory in contemporary European theatre histography and the issues or missions of contemporary Czech theatre histography. After study of special literature they will be ready to explain methodological inaccuracy and ideological consequence, which was caused by introduction of national attitudes and nazi and communist ideology in humanities.
