Course content
1.-2. Introduction: How to think about the history of (national) theatre? 3.-4. The Medieval Ointment Seller 5.-6. Folk Baroque Theatre 7.-8. Creation of the Czech National Theatre 9.-10. Interwar avant-garde - J. Mahen, E. F. Burian, The Liberated Theatre 11.-12. Theatre under the Protectorate: J. Frejka in the National Theatre

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
Students will learn about the development of theatrical and performative culture in the Czech lands from the beginning to the mid-twentieth century through case studies illustrating various historical periods and socio-cultural phenomena.
