The aim of the course is to present the application of the key concepts of performance studies, the terms of performance and performativity, not only in the analysis of aesthetic phenomena, such as theatre, dance, or performance art, but of all kinds of cultural performances (Singer) regardless of their framing and actual whereabouts (social, ideological, pragmatic, etc.). The course is taught in Czech
At the end of the course, students will be able to explain the essence of the concepts of performance and performativity; explain and show with examples how it is possible to work with these concepts as methodological tools when investigating different types of cultural performances; explain and show with examples what, from the perspective of performance studies, connects theatrical and non-theatrical, more generally artistic and non-artistic types of events.
