Lecture is following crucial evolution epochs in the European theatre in chosen topics, focuses on evolution of theatre space, scenography, acting and drama. Introduces ritual and magical roots of theatre, watches birth of theatre and its changes from antics till its renaissance European model Topics: Beginnings of theatre (mimesis, cult, ritual) Ancient theatre (creation of drama, theatre space) Greek tragedy and comedy (Aischylos, Sofoklés, Euripidés, Aristofanés) Roman theatre and drama (Plautus, Terentius, Seneca, Roman mime) Medieval theatre (liturgical plays, mysteries and miracles) Secular theatre and medieval theatre space Renaissance theatre (changes of theatre space) Italian "commedia erudita"(L. Ariosto, N. Macchiavelli, G. Bruno) Birth of "commedie dell´arte"(theatre of types) Ehglish Elizabeth's theatre ( theatre space, societys, english masques) W. Shakespeare (his predecessors and followers) Theatre in Spain from the 16th till 17th century

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of historical lecture is to introduce the present histographical approach to history of theatre, particular periods in evolution of theatre as an art, position of theatre in society, single theatre lines and genres, organization of the space in theatre and evolution of scenography from the birth of theatre till renaissance.
Students obtain knowledge of the crucial European theatre and drama tendencies from the beginnings of theater till renaissance. He understands historical changes of the theatre space and can characterize drama, acting and stage design of the time. He is orientated in basic theatre terminology and can evaluate influence of the history of the theatre on the contemporary theatre.
