Course content
Each meeting of the tutor and participants of course will include collective analysis of chosen audio or audiovisual material, adaptation or theatre performance record. Themes: - What is the dramatization, what is adaptation. Concretization, updating and interpreting dramatised material. - Literary text and its adaptation in the work of Czech interwar theatre avat-garde. - Dramatization and theatre adaptation in the second half of 20th century, dramatization in stone and repertory theaters and in authorial theatres. - Searching new themes after 1989, onset of new generation of authors, directors and thearte companies, talking of theatre adaptations which are familiar to participants from autopsy.

Learning outcomes
Problems of this field which lies between literary and teathre studies will be discussed from different point of views. We will focus on the theory of theatre adaptation in the context of drama theory. We will show how theatre and drama worked with literary original in historical eras of the world theatre. Mainly the journey which led to authorial theatre and irregular dramaturgy in the 20th century.
Knowledge of historical and contemporary context of theatre adaptation of literature, development of analytical and comparison skills.
Prerequisites
Student activity in classes, self study of recommended literature and audiovisual materials. This course is closed by writting of correspondence task.
