Learning outcomes
|
The course builds on and expands the basic knowledge acquired in the compulsory course Phonetics and Phonology, with particular emphasis on orthoepy. Students will also be introduced to the fundamentals of speech culture, rhetoric, pragmatics, and presentation skills. The knowledge and skills acquired can be applied both during their studies and in their future professional careers. The aim of the course is to prepare students for professions in which spoken communication plays a primary role. The course will combine theoretical foundations in the above-mentioned areas with practical examples and student presentations.
Students will gain an overall overview of the culture and essentials of public speaking, and will also acquire presentation skills using additional applications that may be useful in future studies and careers.
