Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on theoretical approaches to literary space, understood both as fictional space and its structuring, and more broadly as the space of the medium and literary communication. Attention is paid to the ways in which space contributes to the construction of a literary work, participates in the formation of its meaning, and shapes the relationships between characters, the narrator, and the fictional world. At the same time, the course examines the spatial aspects of the production, circulation, and reception of literature and their role within broader cultural and communicative contexts.
The student is familiar with the basic concepts of the theory of literary space and with the principal theoretical approaches, and is able to independently analyse and interpret the category of literary space.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Seminar Work
The student prepares for each seminar by studying the assigned scholarly text and is expected to be able to discuss it during the seminar. At the end of the course, the student submits a seminar paper of approximately five standard pages on an assigned topic.
