Learning outcomes
|
The seminar will focus on the poetics of František Halas. This poet was an artist who often intensely defied the aesthetic norms of his time. The uniqueness of the artist's creative journey can be revealed through the interpretation of his poems and textological analyses. Attention will be paid not only to his early verses and individual creative periods, but also to the textual analysis of certain poems, sketches, collections, and essays. The poet's legacy influenced subsequent generations of Czech artists (Jiří Orten, Jiří Kolář, Zbyněk Hejda, Miroslav Topinka, Petr Kabeš, and others).
In the seminar, students will be familiarized with development trends of the Czech interwar literature and with the position of Frantisek Halas in the development of Czech literature.

1. Reading the assigned texts for each seminar, and analyzing and interpreting selected poems. 2. Submission of an analytical essay on a given topic. 3. Participation in seminar discussions. 4. A maximum of two absences are permitted.
