Course content |
Students talk about the topics covered in both Navigate Pre-intermediate and Navigate Intermediate B1+. In the exam, students need to be able to describe their area of studies, which has been practised during the seminars.

Learning outcomes |
This is meant for those students who want to take an exam at the end of the four-semester Lower Intermediate English course. The exam can be taken on condition that the student has sucessfully passed all the four semesters of the course. By attending the four-term course and passing the exam students reach B1 level as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Gained competences: reading, writing, listening and speaking based on Navigate Pre-intermediate and Navigate Intermediate. By attending the four-term course and passing the exam students reach B1.2 level as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. |
Prerequisites |
Knowledge of English as defined by the Common European Framework - level B1. http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/LanguageSelfAssessmentGrid/en The exam can be taken on condition that the student has sucessfully passed all the four semesters of the course. The student will register for AMZ in STAG at the beginning of the semester along with other courses.

Assessment methods and criteria |
Mark, Oral exam, Analysis of linguistic
1) Student will choose a subject-related text (min. 5 pages). 2) Student will study the text, translate all the unknown words and writes a 1-page analysis of this text in English 3) Both the original text and the analysis must be submitted to the teacher in printed form no later than 1 week before the exam takes place 4) Students come to the exam with their own copies of the texts, i. e. the analysis + the original text with translated words 5) At the exam, students will introduce their text; explain why they have chosen it and then their analysis will be discussed. Students must also show the original text with the translated words to the examiner. They will also analyse 1 randomly chosen part of the original English text. |
