The course is taught based on the concept of research based teaching. The first part of the course will introduce recommended and other relevant data sources and internet databases. The course will then describe the most important theoretical concepts of the relationship between economic development and international migration, their typologies and definitions. Furthermore, attention will be paid to the spatial dimension of migration and the number of international migrants at regional and global levels. An important topic will be remittances, their quantity, motives for sending, trends, costs of sending, so-called mobile remittances, their developmental impacts and negative effects. Migration policies, migration management methods, migration management in the Czech Republic, the European Union and Canada. Use of artificial intelligence in migration management. The following issues will then be analysed, which represent key issues in the impact of social, demographic, economic processes in relation to migration processes: outflow of skilled workers and their economic impact on countries of origin; refugees in the world, asylum management and the use of artificial intelligence; gender impacts of migration and development; case studies of displacement due to the Chernobyl NPP disaster and comparison with the recent nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan.
