Learning outcomes
The objective is to demonstrate the problems of an artwork's interpretation in a broad spectrum of the Art History's methodology in the dialogue of the Baroque art of 17th - 18th century with artistic tendencies of 20th - 21st century. The attention will be focused on the selected artworks of the Jesuit order, which participated in the formation of a unified space of the church architecture and a rhetoric of Baroque art. Similarly, the ideological principles of a public art and a new genre, with a particular focus on sculpture in public space, will be define, that is on the basis of the communication potential between the artist, the subject and the viewer. The purpose is to train the students in the professional dialogue, to look on the artworks from many visual angles, to break the traditional conception of the use of specific methods just for certain periods and not for the others, and provoke the students to the self-reflection and the application of the new approaches in the research.
